Partnerstädte - Santa Monica
Im Süden Kaliforniens liegt Santa Monica direkt am Pazifik und hat sehr viel Schönes zu bieten.
In der Stadt mit ca. 100.000 Einwohnern und direkter Nachbarschaft zu Los Angeles beeindruckt ein breiter und feiner Sandtrand, der zum Sonnen und Baden einlädt. Für die Sportlichen führt ein kilometerlanger Pfad durch die Santa Monica Bay. Auf dem Pfad fahren keine Autos, sondern Fußgänger, Inlineskater und Radfahrer sind hier unterwegs und können das Meer, die "Muscle"-Gyms und die schicken Häuser und Hotels bewundern.
Auf dem berühmten Santa Monica Pier endet die allen bekannte Route 66.
Sehenswert sind die eleganten Villen, die mit Blumen prachtvoll gestalteten Boulevards und die kreativ gestaltete Shopping-Promenade.
Selbstverständlich sind die Villa Aurora in den Pacific Palisades mit ihrem historischen Hintergrund und das moderne Getty Museum mit mehreren Ausstellungen, einer schönen Gartenanlage und tollen Aussichten einen Besuch wert.
Bereits seit dem 9. Juli 1969 besteht die Partnerschaft mit der Santa Monica Sister City Association. Beide Partnerstädte bieten den Besuchern immer ein abwechslungsreiches Programm, bei dem Gäste und Gastfamilien eine interessante und aufregende Zeit miteinander verbringen.
Neben den Urlaubsbesuchern freuen sich sowohl Schüler während eines Schüleraustausches in den Sommerferien als auch Studenten während eines Praktikums über die Möglichkeit, in liebevollen Gastfamilien zu wohnen.

Santa Monica with about 100,000 inhabitants is located in the south of California at the West Coast of the USA. It is closely connected to Los Angeles and has a lot of beautiful attractions. Santa Monica lies at the Pacific Ocean and is famous for a marvelous beach with its long bycicle- and skating path, starting at Santa Monica Pier and going along Santa Monica Bay.
Impressing are beautiful villas, nice boulevards with a lot of green plants and exotic flowers, Villa Aurora and the Getty Museum in the Santa Monica Mountains.
And do not forget Hollywood! At the Universal Studios you can spend an unforgettable day. You will be surprised about the many actors walking around and other attractions.
Of course a sightseeing tour through Los Angeles is a must.
Since 1976 the International Club Hamm (I.C.H.) and the Santa Monica Sister City Association (SMSCA) have been in close contact. The SMSCA has sister cities in Mazatlán (Mexico), Fujinomia (Japan) and Sant´Elia/Cassino (Italy).
Unfortunately, since 1996, the student exchange has come to a standstill because according to a federal law, very high fees have to be paid by foreign students attending American high schools and colleges.
There have been frequent mutual visits of members of the sister associations for many years. Both sister cities always prepare a great programm for their guests who enjoy being received with open hearts in different families and to have an interesting time together.
